Aw...I like his harmonica. And I also agree that this is about his mother. I don't think John really had many loves in his life that he would write a song like this about. But if you think of the song being about his mother, it fits so well. Like most kids do in a situation like this, he probably blamed his mother for leaving him, assuming he did something to make her not love him...and right when they are rekindling their relationship, she gets killed. :(
