A couple corrections from the disc booklet, in case they don't go through for stupid copyright reasons: "And a constellation is more Than the brightest point of its form But every telescope you assumed Was pointed only at you" "But if the Earth is as round as they say Then I won't find another place From where I break back through That's farther away from you" |

I feel like this song can also be about a new relationship, after the "honeymoon phase" is over and you start really learning about the other person. "The signals we send are deflected again / We're still connected, but are we even friends?" As a relationship matures, you learn more about the other person, and they might end up not being what you thought they were. You then need to reevaluate; is the other person still the person you fell in love with? "Just a reflection, of a reflection, of a reflection, of a reflection, of a reflection / Will I see you on the other side? / We've all got things to hide" We tend to fall in love with people because we see aspects of ourselves reflected in them. Once those reflections are stripped away, will you still see the same person? Are they hiding a part of themselves from you? |
