this song is quite different to the other Mayday parade songs. primarily because it shows the persona in a sense of power,in contrast to the usual 'without you I'll be miserable.' 'you'll be the reason, I'll be uneven;' this may be Derek implying that if the two were to break up it would be her fault. however, as the song continues, it becomes filled with declarative; this may be Derek drawing attention to his fairly unique situation. |

the topics with in this song are fairly similar to those discussed in the later regions of 'lucky street.'the songs seems to me that the song explores life after a dead Jason- as the following rhythm may be used to convey the simplicity of Heaven(or a Heaven like place.) the verses explore fairly depressing topics, however they are contradicted later on ion each chorus. 'try to pinpoint every second when my heart began to stop;' this may be highlighting a failed relationship, however the positiveness later on in the chorus suggests Jason's persona is in a state of zein, and has let go of all of his negativity. |
