I disagree with this interpretation, "the trouble with love" is not a mystery, it's expressed in the chorus. The trouble with love is that it hurts. Trying unsuccessfully to make a relationship work with someone you love hurts. The trouble with love is that it takes a hold of you, makes you vulnerable and leaves you at the mercy of another person. She sings about how easy it is to be enticed by love, how easy it is to forget past heartbreak when you find yourself falling in love with someone new. Despite the intention to be cautious with her heart she feels powerless to stop herself getting deeply emotionally attached with someone, you don't have a say in who you fall in love with, when, or how fast. Her experience of love always ends in heartbreak and pain, to the point where she doesn't want to fall in love anymore, but it's not up to her to choose. The trouble with love is that it ends it heartbreak. |
