"You preach about love and teach about faith but all your beliefs are still rooted in hate" This leads me to believe that it's about corruption within the Catholic Church. I think it's pretty much saying that the corrupt members are hypocrites who don't really believe in what they preach about. |

It's "a hold of my heart", not "ahold of my eyes". It's also "there's a shotgun", not "here's a shotgun". |

| Take the second letter of every other word and write it down in a line. Read the backwards, and there's a hidden message of sorts. | |

Call me crazy, but this is about predicting the War in Iraq. Let me elaborate: One day I will build a fountain Drink and never grow old Then I'll market an elixir that will eliminate the common cold Find your sickness on my list Pay up front and make a wish The fountain obviously represents oil mines, which are like fountains of oil because of how much they mine. They'll use it (drink) and keep on going back for more (It'll never grow old). They'll market it; it;s as valuable (and sells for as much) as an elixir. It will draw all attention and money away from diseases, with only the wealthy being cured. One day I will work with animals All the tests I'm gonna do All my stuff's completely natural And when we're done we'll boil 'em down for glue that we can use to re-adhere your lips to mine if you were here The "work" is conflict, and they're referring to the Taliban/terrorists as animals. They'll test all their weapons and torturing techniques on them, and then "throw them away" when they're done (boil 'em down for glue). Then they’ll re-adhere their “lips” — fix their relationships and (re-build) ties. I can't stand to wait in line long So I built a new machine It just measures up the distance and then eliminates the folks between One day I'll construct a satellite and I'll name it after you 'Cause you were the greatest friend of all except for when you split my lip in two To see the look upon your face as I launch you into space So they’re growing impatient from doing nothing, so they build new war machines. The rest is self explanatory: they’ll kill all of the enemy. After they re-build their bonds and ties, they’ll give each other gifts (satellites) in the other nation’s name (i.e. trade). They will build a solid international partnership, and be good “friends” (“Except for when you split my lip in 2 — except for that period where they had bad blood). They’ll be so happy to see this achieved (“To see the look upon your face”). Some day I will find the secret to your social chemistry Then I'll print it on a t-shirt and it'll make you want to be with me If I wear it past your work you'll see other guys are jerks Much like pheromones for flies you will not avoid my eyes Eventually, they’ll uncover the enemy’s tactics/strategies/secrets, print it out to the world, and make the country surrender (if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em). They’ll do this by bringing it to/showing (blackmailing?) the country, making them give up (wear it past your work). They’ll be so compelled to do that, much like pheromones for flies. Chorus: There's a lot I will never do Some fantastic, I know it's true But none as much as my want to be with you Bye-bye self-respect I haven't had much of it since you left I missed out on the best of you There’s a lot each of the countries wouldn’t do, making them look bad. But they still want to end this. They lose all self-respect, and miss out on the opportunity to be good partners. |

Steve is Jewish. Also, I'm pretty sure the others are Christian, because they sing about Jesus in their holiday album. I hope I don't sound mean, but please don't be that ignorant. Many, many Christians, myself included, believe in the Big bang and evolution. The Creation stories are recognized as myth, and aren't meant to be taken literally. They're figurative, and the Church acknowledges that. It's just that there are some southern US people that think they're 100% word-for-word true. |
