Carbon Leaf – Dear Hidden Track Lyrics 13 years ago
I actually think the 7th line is "upon awaking, forget my name."

This song always seemed really sad to me, like a lullaby in death. It felt like he was singing to someone who's time had come to die who was holding out. He's singing to them telling them that it's OK to go and to not wait for him, like they have another life to live without him. Like they need to fall asleep so that they can "wake up" in their next life, or afterlife or what-have-you. It's not his time to die so he can't "wake up" with them and he wants them to move on without him.

Either way, it's a beautiful song. Wonderful in it's simplicity.

The Knife – Heartbeats Lyrics 14 years ago
To me the song seems something more like, instead of a one-night stand that leads to love, it's more like these people in love only have one night to spend together. There's a lot of contradicting imagery, suggesting both something sweet and sharp, good and painful. Perhaps consummation and then being separated. So it makes me think of them having this last chance before being pulled apart. And then the chorus, "Wouldn't be good enough for me" maybe expressing something like regret, being left in wanting.

That's what I got out of it anyway.
