I think this is about a relationship where the guy is in love with a girl that has a troubled past (drugs/mental illness/abuse?) that haunts her terribly every day. The guy is so thoroughly in love with her no matter what he'll never leave. "I know if you could snap both your fingers than you'd escape with me" and he knows if it was something she could easily shake off she would to be with him fully. He'll hold her hand when she's mad at him, and stay close when the monsters she sees won't leave. No matter if she wakes up from the nightmare on certain days or if she just lies in bed all day lost in her own mind he'll always be there to pull her back.
