To me this song is about change and how life is so unpredictable. I think it also talks about how if you sit around waiting for specific things to change "you'll be left behind" and be stuck in the past not progressing. Also talks about how some people think that you can expect certain things in life, but you really never know what is going to happen. I think he talks about how he's always the last one (or so it seems), and never ready for the fast one (things tend to go in ways he's not expecting), and that it's time to change (not hold such high expectations, or learn to roll with life's punches), so we make our own plans (how we tend to plan things in our heads before they happen), set our sights on a new land (adjust to the changes around us and strive to be somewhere else and set goals), one that's kind of strange (striving to be somewhere different than where you are, out of your comfort zone). Basically to me (watered down), this song, Road to Ride on, is referring to the road on life, and we need to keep riding it and learn to adjust to the different things thrown at us or we'll get left behind; and continuing on this road of life it's required of us to sometimes go places that are out of our comfort zone until we're ready to move onto something else. |
