Eagles – Waiting in the Weeds Lyrics 14 years ago
I find this song haunting and mesmerizing. I heard it first in a live concert and I could hardly wait to buy the CD. As a psychology major, I tend to interpret it differently from most of you. I see this man as depressed about his lost love and slowly spiraling downward into state of craziness. I can visualize him sitting in the weeds watching all the critters around him, watching for his lost love, perseverating about his misery. The music is what I refer to as "circular"...spiraling, creating a sense of being caught in a pattern from which he cannot escape. I found it refreshing to hear that the Eagles meant it to refer to their own status of waiting to be revived. Isn't it great how music speaks to each of us in a personal way? I have loved the Eagles since I heard them in the 70s as a backup band for Linda Ronstadt (yes,I'm older than dirt), and I've followed them for years. This CD and this song are the best. The LROOE really demonstrates their great musical talents and versatility.
