| I get what you're saying, and its not about religion. It not about well I'm a Christian, well I'm a athiest, well I believe in myself. Its about faith. The thing is, whatever you choose to believe requires faith, be it Christ, or the universe, or whatever. If you're a Christian, you have the faith in Christ that He died for you and will return for you. If you're an athiest, its faith in the correctness if your views. All of it takes a measure of faith, like it or not. And, respectfully as possible, it really is a defining right and left side. If you believe in nothing, you believe that you are right, and for you to be right, someone has to be wrong. Otherwise, that leaves leeway for YOU to be the wrong one. Finally, I have a question for all of you. Obviously, you are pretty rock solid in your beliefs, and obviously you have a serious level of faith in what you believe in, so why waste that faith on death? All that non-belief offers is death eternally, while Christiany offers eternal life, and all it takes is faith. Because logically and rationally, after your years here are up, would you rather be dirt in the ground, or live? Think on it, and reply with your thoughts. | |
| Oh, Sleeper – A BANQUET FOR TRAITORS Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I think this song is another from the perspective of Satan with words from God included. In the beginning with the line "Again, I wake to you... Stand up, these feet are so far from clean. I'm undeserving of the strength in your arms used to save me." I think Micah is talking as himself just saying that God grants us each day that we have, and as sinful humans in our fallen world we are undeserving of the pain and suffering Christ went through for us. Then with the next line "But years passed when i saw Eve next to me, she's wrapped in low-cut, dripping sensuality. I remember the host, but it's been so long since we spoke." I think this line is spoken as the Devil, saying that when he saw Eve, it was a great revelation and he saw that her, in her "low cut sensuality" was the way to get humanity to fall through Adam. And then he begins to talk to Adam with "I remember the host, but it's been so long since we spoke" is Satan acknowledging his time as an angel as if casually like, yeah I remember that, but it's just been so long and it was meaningless, being holy isn't really all that. Then Jesus comes in with "He said, "My son, you can hold perfection in your arms if you wish." but i sit at a banquet for traitors placed here between a thief and a liar. "Just run and hold perfection in your arms as I slip..." I think this is Jesus speaking to Adam as well as what He says to us now. He is telling Adam that if he eats the fruit that Satan says gives perfection, then that is his choice and what he will have to deal with. Also, that when He comes, he will sit at a banquet for traitors, for it is not the rightous that need salvation, but the traitors and thieves and liars. I think the line "placed here between a theif and a liar" is doubtlessly a reference to Jesus' time on the cross where he was placed between two thieves, even though He is our savior and the light of the world, we placed Him still with the scum of our world. And finally, "Just run and hold perfection in your arms as I slip" is maybe saying that we have our "perfection" in the form of the first tempting fruit, or any temptation here on earth, but if we run with that while we let Jesus slip out of our lives, it isnt going to work out. "but i'll make you the god of a liar cause i've been both a saint and a viper. I'll make you the god of a liar. I am a lie, just like these traitors that cry for forgiving replies but keep their grips held tight" I think "but i'll make you the god of a liar cause i've been both a saint and a viper.I'll make you the god of a liar." is pretty straightforward, as it is Satan trying to tempt Adam/us by saying he can make us gods even about God Himself, seeing as he considers God a liar. He also claims that he has been both a saint and a viper and acting like he knows that evil is better, and if we just fall into his temptations that he can give all of the power in the world through evil. Then I think he is taunting God with "I am a lie, just like these traitors that cry for forgiving replies but keep their grips held tight" by saying that okay, you say I'm a lie, but as much of a lie I am, so too are your people who claim You as their God, but still turn to sin and evil through temptation. And then Satan continues to taunt God with "Though my eye's on Eve you're ready to bleed as if I'm royalty but I am no king. I am no king. His life spilled like a tide so divine. It was a blood soaked feast that never ceased as his veins dripped empty. With such violent grace, the waves hit my face and in painful clarity i turned fearfully..." The line "Though my eye's on Eve you're ready to bleed as if I'm royalty but I am no king. I am no king." I think is the Devil saying to God that even though he focuses himself on Eve(humanity) Jesus was right there ready to die, even though he never brought Him into it. And then he says "as if I'm royalty but I am no king. I am no king" as more of a taunt like, oh so youre so ready there to die and protect your people, even though You say I'm a weak tricking liar. You say I hold no power, but obviously you come right when I step into your people's boundary, so I hold the power over You. Then Satan spells out what he considers a "victory" with "His life spilled like a tide so divine. It was a blood soaked feast that never ceased as his veins dripped empty. With such violent grace, the waves hit my face and in painful clarity i turned fearfully..." The lines "His life spilled like a tide so divine. It was a blood soaked feast that never ceased as his veins dripped empty." I think is Satan gloating like hah, I took down your God, I spilled his blood and destroyed His life, look who holds the power now. And then Jesus turns up in Hell to defeat death and the Devil, and Satan says,"With such violent grace, the waves hit my face and in painful clarity i turned fearfully..." like now he realizes he might be in trouble, like I thought I had defeated Him and here he comes and crushes me. And then God comes in with "What makes you think you can deserve me? WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN DESERVE ME?" I think this is God summing up everything Satan said and all of the power that he thinks that he holds into a simple no. Satan thinks that Jesus came to die for him, on his terms, when in reality Jesus came out of His supreme love for us, to save us from eternal death. Satan thinks that he has all of the power and that he is better than God, where it is really that the Devil is still only around because God lets him exist. Satan thinks that he has us in His grip of chaining sin and the trap of temptation, where really we are set free through the blood of Christ, and in His power we can overcome death, and win eternal victory. |
