this is what the song means to me "wake up young man it's time to wake up" he's telling the listener to break out of his addiction 'your love affair has got to go." this is whatever is holding the listener back being depressed, drugs so on. 'the leafs to rack up' part simply means he has problems he has to fix that he is filled with doubt with. when he says for 10 long years. This is just saying that he's been in a state of sadness for a long period of time. 'slow suicide is no way to go' obviously the writer is thinking of killing himself because all seems hopeless, but from a friend's perspective he's saying don't do it you got more to live for. the blue clouded grey is another symbol saying the man is depressed it's a nice day but his mood is just so crap he can't see through it. 'moving on ward it's an infection not a phase' he continues to go through life depressed or drug addiction which ever. It's an infection not a phase simply means he's tried to kick it before and it doesn't go away he continues to have black thoughts which is why Layne got into drugs to begin with. He thought that would cure it. (obviously made things worse) the cracks in the line where you gave up. means he followed through with what his desire was which was to kill himself. 'you let them bleed you' simply means you let all the people get under your skin and everything slowly built up. 'for little peace from god you plead and beg.' this just means he tries to ask god to ease his mind's pain. For it to just stop. at the end when he continuously says wake up to me that's when whoever discovers his body kinda nudging him to wake up, but obviously the writer is dead so he's not going to wake up. the wake up part also puts the friend/mother/brother ex. in kind of a shock stage they don't want to accept his death as true so they repeatedly say wake up not believing what has happened. This is just my opinion on it. Anyways great song great band. |

well if you look up the word disposition it means A person's inherent qualities of mind and character. SO with that being said. I personally think the song is about a relationship or friendship with someone. Watch the weather change to me means watch how that person changes over time. More than likely it would be for the worse. He wants him or her to speak to him again. "mention something mention anything" He just wants to regain that relationship, but he knows he can't say anything to her or him to change how she now feels so he must watch the weather change. In other words watch him or her go on with their life. |
