| Sleepytime Gorilla Museum – Sleep Is Wrong Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Hmm... this song is reminiscent of "Flinch", in which Carla tells the story of a sleep-deprived pessimist who lies in bed thinking of all the things she cannot do. This one's about a person who is afforded the privilege of sleep but, in his attempt to harness the natural forces of his own body (as do humans attempt to bind nature to their own benefit), refuses the opportunity. It's strange, though. On the surface its message appears completely motivational, as if saying "hang in there man, don't fall asleep at the wheel!" but at the same time conjures images of a person running himself off a cliff to obtain immortality. |

| The Dillinger Escape Plan – Crutch Field Tongs Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Actually you're pretty close, the crutchfield tong refers to a medical device that looks sort of like a claw crane. It's drilled into your skull on one end and attached to the headboard of a hospital bed on the other. Made to realign your spine or something. Funny thing is that the first time I heard the song I got the impression of being stretched across a minefield. Those spinal cracks just never fail to send chills up the proper apparatus. | |
