Definitely the theme is life is short (but thats okay). I guess from the perspective of a couple, or father/mother and son/daughter. If you watch the video both of them are bleeding at the end. I dont think you can be so literal with interpretation of the song. They are italian afterall, which implies esl. |

Forgot to mention talk about being an outsider "see beyond the rational be the least connected, stay true to the original". His realization that life is shit distances him from others i think "the original" is his morals and beliefs about humanity. He cant succumb and be a mindless person like everyone else he has to stay true. |

Definitely nihilistic. Pretty apparent its about being jaded with life, but i think it also is about the realization that were not unique special little snowflakes. He says "my lies are always wishes" meaning that all the denial and possibly great things hes claimed to have done are things he wIshed he really was. Enforced in the part where he talk about false reality being part of objectivity. He wishes him dreams and hopes were a part of reality, wishes that he has a gf to come home to that gives two shits about him, or that he wasnt financially a failture, or that he hadnt fucked up here or there.
It just seems like a song about how humanity is really a grey unexciting existance and he wishes or hopes that there is actually something worthwhile inside him and humanity. I love this song, i felt like i was reading an autobiography of my own mind when i read this. This and lesser faith are two of dts greatest, these lyrics are as deep and poetical as insomniums. |

Hes obviously messing around i doubt hes talking about him taking life up the ass, hes never come of as someone into that. I think maybe hes making fun of the "manly" stereotype saying they take it up the ass. I dont really see why he would want to make fun of being a man. |
