| Yes! Glad I finally found someone who agreed with me. I think this whole album (Oracular Spectacular) is about humans destroying the Earth. It's clearer in the ending with "Peices of what" (Pieces of what we used to call home, Earth is now destroyed and the peices are falling from the sky onto wherever they are, then "Of moons, birds, and monsters, "Dont you know about the temperature change?.....Or hoping that an unknown force will repair things for you") | |

"We're not scare mongering, this is really happening!" Fear mongering techniques used in politics, and predominantly religion to persuade people to do certain things they wouldn't normally do. "I'll laugh til my head comes off" The fear mongering laughing his ass off at how easy people are fooled. |

I think it's just about fear mongering in general, not necessarily any sort of ice age or nuclear warfare or anything. I haven't listened to Kid A all the way through, so I don't know about the context. |

I think the sleep in this song is a symbol. It's kind of an accepted fact that if you don't sleep for long enough, it's not good for you, and you should probably sleep. This song is kind of about going against conventions and finding the truth through the lies of our culture. I don't the song is literally telling you not to sleep, but rather not to believe anything without proper justification, even if it seems as common-sensical as sleep. |

Everyone gets the lyrics wrong, it's not "need us". It's Mi Le. The whole feel of the song with the instrumentals and everything sound really asian, but I guess it's hard to catch unless you know Chinese, but he says Mi Le, which is the name of a Bodhisattva in Chinese who's always smiling and really fat. I still have no idea what the song means, but I guess it's somehow related to Buddhism? |
