| The Cure – From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea Lyrics | 12 years ago |

In relation to the lyrics and nothing more, this song is about a guy who is in a relationship with a girl who adores him, but he has his doubts about how much he is willing to put forth. However, as with most Cure songs, much more is revealed through the use of symbols and metaphors. Personally, this represents any relationship with something that you don't want, but is addictive and too powerful for your will to overcome. It could be a girl, a drug, anything really. What it means to Robert Smith is completely separate to what it represents to you. While I too enjoy trying to pinpoint the song's original inspiration, it is very important not to ignore what it means personally. |

I'm currently getting over a girl I've loved for a year and two months. She didn't like me back, but knew how much I cared about her and chose to avoid me. I kept trying and trying and trying with her, but it just wasn't working out. This song has helped me through so much of it, and I hope I can do something someday to help others through situations like mine. Bravo, The Cure :) |

To me, this song is about a girl who never spends enough time with her spouse/boyfriend, so he fills the void with drugs. Also, the boyfriend is suspicious of her cheating on him ("There must be something going on"). Great song, I didn't know that The Cure could do hard rock until I heard this. |
