Nirvana – Rape Me Lyrics 14 years ago
I enjoy this theory. heh, and the MTV wouldn't let them play it at the music awards, so they started lithium off with a chorus of 'RAPE MEEE!' just to fuck with them ';D

Nirvana – Drain You Lyrics 14 years ago
this song makes me think about the mentality of an unborn child, and the dynamics of it's symbiotic relationship with a tapeworm, or something similar, that happens to be sharing the same host. creepy stuff, very vivid - but that's why I LOVE IT! the words are rich, and descriptive. they invoke images of wet... blood and grime come to mind. also things like umbilical cords - 'pass it back and forth', 'I travel through a tube and end up in your infection.' - AND THE FREAK OUT/BREAK DOWN??? how awesome ';D

In a more 'real life' situation I've liked what I've been reading in previous comments about his girlfriend Tracey, the whole teacher/mother/provider idea is beautiful. and I guess I tendto shy away from the whole "oh, it's drugs!" mentality. whether they're a factor or not, you could argue ANY song is about sex and drugs - and maybe they are! but all the more reason to dig into the little details and emotions that the music inspires in yourself, right?

Nirvana – Territorial Pissings Lyrics 14 years ago
lol, or the undying struggle with whether or not to end his life due to the fame and pressure he hadn't even received at the point he'd written this song - jokers.

Just because they weren't necessarily intended to have some deeper meaning originally, shouldn't mean that you should shrug off the beauty of misconception and interpretation. otherwise, a piece of art would just be paint on canvas, right? the actual art and meaning should ALWAYS be subjective. that's why he never wanted to say what shit was about, or else he made stuff up to fuck with people ;D

Nirvana – Lithium Lyrics 14 years ago
Lithium is a story about a guy who loses his girl. in his depression he turns to god, and tries to find himself through a higher power. He finds it hard to take church seriously though. he's finding it all pretty hard, with things getting a little shaky and psychotic in-between. bouts of bi-polar coming into play - 'im so ugly, that's okay so are you, broke OUR mirrors'. he touches on ideas of becoming a monk in order to avoid being so lonely (hi-lighting Cobaine's intrigue with Buddhism). issues with keeping his libido at bay. even hope of finding someone else, or even fantasies of getting the girl back, inside his head atleast. but in the end it all becomes too much, and the struggle with manic deppression consumes him - 'I miss you/I love you/I KILLED YOU, I'm not gonna cra-AAACK!...'

This song is the pinnacle of a beauty in simplicity. the way it can address and touch on so many deep and intricate topics, with such understated lyrics, in a way that almost ANYONE can relate to? Kurdt's talent at it's prime. And that massively iconic 'quiet/loud dynamic which the Pixies inspired in Nirvana. I LOVE YOU - I'M NOT GONNA CRACK!
