| Bob Dylan – Shelter from the Storm Lyrics | 13 years ago |

of course, he complicates it with a myriad of allusions and anecdotes. he's very multidimensional is most of his songs. this one's no exception. but I think it's pretty clear from that final stanza that it's Beauty he's sought shelter in. Or at least, it's Beauty that bids him to find shelter in her. "If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born "Come in" she said "I'll give you shelter from the storm"." literally, he's felt like something primitive, he's been an observer of a cruel world, he's been a seeker for an answer, he's been tired, frozen, poisoned, hunted, self-sacrificing, scorned and robbed of his innocence.....but Beauty has always called him like a siren.. and one day, he says, she shall be his. It's no surprise, really. Bob was a poet. Poets generally clutch onto Beauty and swing around at the dead air aiming to hit Truth. Think what you will though. Ask an addict. This song can also serve as a haunting description of addiction. |
