| this is pretty dark, but to me this song is all about suicide. it seems like he has lost someone, to an "aeroplane over the ocean" or some unforeseen circumstance. But theres nothing he can do about it to try and save her although hes trying to figure out how to perform her rescue. "Turn down the lights, dont wait for me, im pretty sure i wont be coming home tonight" is completely suicidal. the "pretty sure" part references his doubt to if he can actually take his own life. he wants to kill himself, but he doesnt want to hurt all those that love and care for him - so hes stuck in between. "this (suicide) could be the HARDEST thing, to LEAVE without a single trace". He just wants to disappear and leave no trace of his existence because he doesnt want to hurt anyone with his actions. | |
