You're dead-on with what you see in this song; I see it too! The lines "And he took me to the river, where he slowly let me drown;" for me, refers that love is like a river's flow between 2 people who discover love's power together. What an incredible, intense, metaphor line! When Edward and Bella fully committed their love to each other (meaning their engagement, since this song is in TW Eclipse, ), it was like a euphoric, serious, consuming, mutual "drowning!" They plunged into love at the "waterfall' too; it's a metaphor for the power of entering into a loved relationship with someone! Both Bella and Edward had been so unhappy, almost depressed with their lives before they met; their coming to love each other, saved the other. Yes, there are so many dangers for them; but they uphold each other! I see burdens/perils in the 'concrete feet' and 'the iron ball' also. The 'crown,' I think, is that gorgeous bronze hair of Edward's; Bella loves and caresses his handsome features! Edward was 'weighed down' in his responsibilities for Bella's life, her family, her willingness to sacrifice having no children and her soul;--Edward was always in awe of Bella's complete trust; all in the name of love and living forever with Edward! Bella saw how much Edward loved her too, in spite of the dangers and sacrifices! It makes the overall tone/mood of the song "heavy!" Love is a serious and committed responsibility! This song leaves me breathless when I hear it every time; it's 1 of my favorite songs in the Twilight Saga! |
