Queens of the Stone Age – If I Had A Tail Lyrics 12 years ago
I thought it sounded like "I'd own the place". Don't think it is though.

Also, the Alex Turner cameo at the end is spectacular. I love it.

Lana Del Rey – Video Games Lyrics 14 years ago
I really like this song. When I saw there was an EP released called "Video Games" I wouldn't have touched it with a 50 foot pole because of the "GRRRRL GAMER" Epidemic. *inb4 the gender equality lecture, I have no prejudice in regards to gender in the gamer demographic, but until girls stop labelling themselves as "Girl Gamers" instead of just "Gamers" like the rest of us, that rift will always exist and the stereotypically "male" image associated with gaming will be perpetuated by girls more than men. It's something 14 year olds gamers will never understand, unfortunately.

But anyway, I heard the song on the radio this morning and really liked it.
My basic interpretation of this song... I think it's really neat that she sort of absorbs his lifestyle after a while. "He holds me in his big arms, drunk and I am seeing stars, this is all I think of... This is my idea of fun, playing video games." In her efforts, doing everything she does just for him, she begins to actually enjoy herself. And why shouldn't she?

Queens of the Stone Age – God Is In The Radio Lyrics 14 years ago
“I’m right behind you, watching you.
Look over your left shoulder, the bottom window.
I’m in Eric’s Room
You’re inside my hands.”

That's what the backmasked whispering sounds like to me.

Mastodon – Naked Burn Lyrics 14 years ago
Nobody's hit the nail on the head yet. This song is about child molestation. Read this, taken from their fan page:

"I was reading a topic on Mastodon’s official forums last night concerning the Leviathan track “Naked Burn” and why Brent allegedly hates the song and refuses to perform it live at most shows. Now I’m not an expert on these matters, but an interview that Mastodon did with Kerrang! in February 2005 might give a reason as to why Brent’s uncomfortable with it. Yeah, Leviathan is Moby Dick-centric, but not all the songs are directly about events from the book. “Naked Burn” deals with some touchy subject matter. Brent explains:
“The song ‘Naked Burn’ off of Leviathan isn’t about Moby Dick; it’s about Catholic priests raping boys in the ass. It has to be talked about in some fashion because it’s so fucked up, but people aren’t really going to get that notion right off the bat. You have to read between the lines”
Despite “Naked Burn” being one of the more melodic and “pretty” tracks on Leviathan, it’s still about child molestation and sexual abuse. I was just as shocked to find this out as I’m sure a lot of fans reading this will, because I didn’t pick up on any of the hints in the lyrics. Given that Brent wrote this song, he has the right to not play it or talk about it. This song was taken out of mothballs during the BlackDiamondSkye tour, but Brent still despises the song and probably regrets ever writing it. You can kind of understand why."

Mastodon – Blasteroid Lyrics 14 years ago
This is a strange one. It's as if they're having a go at the ever shifting style of scene kids, and how kids are getting progressively more and more broken about stupid things, possibly even suggesting that a little time out in the sun will make them forget all about how "Mom wouldn't take me to the mall, she just doesn't understand."

That's the vibe I get from the pop-punk style vocal harmonies in the verse, and how it contrasts with the lyrical content. It's an awesome song; the guys said people would break things and get drunk to this album and I can see that happening.

Foster the People – Call It What You Want Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it's about a bunch of paranoid hipsters trying to pretend they're okay with being labelled, which in itself stifles individuality. At the same time no one can really tell whether "being themselves" enhances their "individuality" or further stifles it.
I see it all the time, people who are either sickly with insecurity or obnoxiously declaring that they don't care about all these words and judgements.
