I can only agree with one poster who said its obvious nobody here is a song writer or poet. Great rock songs are not meant to be taken as having one meaning only. The truth is, this song is about a stray dog that wandered into the band's ranks as they were hanging about in a park one fine day. Seriously. It's that simple. Only everyone is getting one line totally wrong so it's throwing you all off. "Evenflow runs around like butterflies. He don't know so he chases them away." It's about the dog chasing butterflies in the park. Dog's name is Evenflow. Now read the song again, Isn't it obvious? |

Anybody that has either gone through, or knows someone who has gone through rehab, could tell you this song is most definitely about the feelings and things addicts experience once they have quit. "You shiver you shudder, recovers your mother..." Is actually, "You shiver you shudder, recover is your mother. You feel it take control, All alone, Feel alive In your soul" It's all about accepting pain, not hiding from it any longer. It's about the honesty of reality, and living it rather than escaping it anymore. It's about getting pissed off at anything and anybody that would try to convince you that drugs and escape is a better and more fun way. It's about getting pissed not only at others around him bringing it around, but about getting pissed at yourself for ever wanting it to begin with. "Fuck you!" is simply the ultimate angry reaction to all of it. It's about survival. |
