I'm no expert here, by any means, but I believe one of the operative words is 'hit'. In their gold, in their gold, in their gold(en brown)??? This song is about something the writer's mind is telling him to stop doing, and the fact that what he's doing is more precious to him than his soul (which he's gonna lose anyway if he carries on with it - bloody fool), tells me that he's addicted to something. Yosemite Sam 'shoots' rabbits. Midnight is coming - morning seems a long way away - wishing he had something to see him through 'till the morning maybe?? The last verse says it all really. Yeah, he's right, there IS no need to fall - you just stay away from it altogether - but he's already fallen into that dark place, wears raggedy clothes and cares nothing for himself - his one and only interest is heroin. His mind tells him not to do it but his body won't listen. I hope he manages to climb out of that shitty place, like I did.... :) |
