| Robyn – Call Your Girlfriend Lyrics | 13 years ago |

The song is sung from the perspective of the mistress. Robyn explains it here: Robyn: "The song is above love between 2 people, but there's 3 people involved." Friend: "And who's winning?" Robyn: "Me! I am winning!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OfzbVDXC-Q&feature=relmfu - Source I honestly think the lyrics to this song are fabulous. It is so touching. My heart breaks for the girlfriend but at the same time I feel like the mistress is such a good person. She is concerned about her lover's girlfriend so much. And she appreciates the fact that while her lover may not be "in love" with his girlfriend, she is still someone important to him. This is shown when she says "and it might not make sense now, but you're still her friend." The mistress knows. Just because they aren't going to be together any more doesn't mean he doesn't still care for her as a friend. |

I'm pretty sure you are wrong. It clearly is the word "heartily", which is used in (most versions of) the act of contrition prayer. Example: "O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life." |

| Kelly Clarkson – You Love Me Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I think this song is pretty straightforward and still so powerful. Her boyfriend broke up with her and basically blamed it on all her. Kelly, however, is smart enough to realize that it isn't her fault at all. He is the one who screwed the relationship up. He is the one who's not good enough. "you said i'm not good enough, i'm not good enough. but you really mean is you're not good enough, you're not good enough. you can't deliver, so you turn it around" Her boyfriend told her she's not good enough, but they both know it's him that's not good enough. He knows he's wrong and can't deliver, so he blames it on her. "you didn't let me down, you didn't tear me apart. you just opened my eyes while breaking my heart." She's saying that he didn't really let her down because he showed her the truth: he's bad news and not good for her. By breaking up with her he broke her heart, but at the same time he made her realize that he is a shitty guy to begin with. "you didn't do it for me. i'm not as dumb as you think. you just made me cry while claiming that you love me" The boyfriend probably told her he was breaking up for her sake, but she's smart enough to see through it. Every time he said he loved her he was lying, and she now realizes this. A very powerful song about unrequited love and dating a douchebag in disguise. Most of us have been there. |

This song is definitely about unrequited love. I am exactly in this position right now so this song hits close to him. Basically, she meets this guy and falls in madly falls in love with him. Unfortunately, he doesn't feel the same way. His mind is still on his ex. "In your brown eyes you'll watch her go Then turn the record on and wonder what went wrong" He watched his ex go and he listens to music wondering why they broke up. "Got some brown eyes but I saw her face I knew that it was wrong So baby, turn the record on, play that song" I take this to mean she saw his ex's face in his eyes. Figuratively, obviously. When she looks into his brown eyes, she does not see her reflection, but rather his ex's. She knows this means he doesn't want her, so she concedes and tells him to just play his music and wallow in his pain. "Everything was everything but baby, it's the last show Everything could be everything but it's time to say goodbye, so Get your last fix and your last hit Grab your old girl with her new tricks Honey yeah, it's no surprise that I got lost in your brown eyes" It's hard for her because of her love, but she knows she has to leave him. This love isn't a two-way street. She's telling him to get all he can get from her before she goes. Then she says to go back with his ex with her "new tricks." I take this to mean his ex was manipulative and would play tricks on him. Gaga says she'll just trick him again into a bad relationship. She knows she is right for him, but unfortunately he doesn't. |

| Lenka – The Show Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
The song is about living in the moment. Don't fret over life's twists and turns, it's uncertainty. These things are are part of life. Just embrace them and be happy. My favorite part of this song is the end, where everyone is singing, "I want my money back." Since in this part of the song it is OTHER people singing it, I believe it represents what most people in the world believe. A lot of people are disgruntled with life. Life hasn't been good to them. And since in this song, a show is a metaphor for life, people "want their money back." They want a refund on their life because they feel like they've been cheated. Lenka responds to them by saying "Just enjoy the show." |
