Cake Bake Betty – Eleanor Lyrics 12 years ago
I don't know; the artist is from New Jersey, so I would bet the Monmouth in NJ is the one she's referring to.

Ben Folds – A Working Day Lyrics 14 years ago
I don't think it's just about young writers -- the impression I got from the liner notes* and the repetition of "it's a working day" at the end was that this is meant to be a cycle that most/all writers go through on a regular basis, that they flip-flop daily between "this is gonna be awesome!" and "oh god, I suck, why do I do this?" Even if writing is your job and you're used to the haters, you still have those moments of self-doubt. (I don't know how true this is, of course, not being a professional writer myself, but it seems to be what the song's saying.)

* I remember them too vaguely to quote them and don't have the CD to hand right now, but they said something about this coming out of a conversation Hornby had with another parent at his kid's school, who was also an artist of some sort.
