| The Elvis reference was due to Sam Phillips assuming Elvis would be the first one to make a gold record. Perkins made Blue Suede Shoes and beat Elvis to it. Phillips had every opportunity to not give the Cadillac to Perkins, but his word was golden and gave the Cadillac to Perkins. | |

The lyrics seem to be off in the above. "Every skinny mystery, gotta make it hard somehow. Sit your narrow ass down hot shot, I'll solve yours right now." "thinking happy thoughts, and breathin' deep." "It don't take smarts to tune out what hurts more than helps." "I guess that's why they give us names. So a few old men can say they saw us reign when we were young." The "reign" usage seems to be a play on the storms and droughts lyrics. Also, For sure it's a stripper that'll do a little more for the right money, but she's resigned herself to the fact that's all she'll ever be due to her less than stellar upbringing. |
