VNV Nation – Endless Skies Lyrics 13 years ago
For me there is this incredibly strong mental picture of an astronaut drifting alone in space in just a spacesuit. His air is running low, and the only thing he can see is the endless sky. "The most fragile of things" is his own life which he knows must soon end "Live seconds as a lifetime". "Who you are and where you're going, only living, only breathing, loosing all sense of time" sounds like a perfect description of a man about to come to a tranquil end.

I couldn't agree with you more TheLabyrinthMind. It adds such a profound depth to think of this as being from the perspective of the dead. Just imagine these words

"And hush now, Let it go now, There's no need for sad goodbyes, Hush now, Let it go now"

Being sung to the person who is grieving in "Forsaken"

VNV Nation – Forever Lyrics 13 years ago
To me this is a song from a son to a parent, or a student to a mentor who is dying. It acknowledges the fact that death is a final parting. We have come from nothing, and to nothing we will return. It recognizes that we all, as humans, are flawed and imperfect.
"Forever burdened with the knowledge that I could have been so much more" and
"I was never what you wanted, I could never never please."
There is a kindness in the lyrics
"I will try to ease your fear as the darkness pulls you under."
as if he were witness to someone's death.
The chorus is a ray of hope that the way we live on is through those we leave behind. The impact of who we were carries part of ourselves forward even in death. That's what forever means.

VNV Nation – Gratitude Lyrics 14 years ago
It's "purpose found alone"

To me, there's only one person being thanked. Ones former self.

Everything about the lyrics says that it's coming from a place in ones life of contentment. It's an embracing of that person we were at some low point or chapter in our (my) life. Telling that person who I'm sometimes ashamed or embarrassed of that "you were strong, you were brave, you held on". The phrase "my god, look at what WE are now" is an acknowledgement of the fact that he and I are one.

VNV Nation – Streamline Lyrics 14 years ago
This is one of the most beautifully optimistic songs I’ve heard. It evokes a modern version of “Metropolis” (without the social strata). It also reminds me of the “better living through science” movies of the mid century.

“Build towers that pierce the sky
The figurehead of individual minds”

“Free thought and open minds
As if beams of photons lit the night”

This speaks to me of individuality, independence and creativity and lighting the darkness of ignorance.
I think this is a wonderful companion piece to “Airships”. It evokes the same feeling of wonder, hope and possibility.

I am a huge fan of this new album
