Yes – Circus of Heaven Lyrics 1 year ago
Clearly Jon is familiar with the Akashik Record - a subtle phenomenon in which the entire planetary history is embedded/imprinted and is available for random access presumably by the enlightened being. There is also a pearls before swine aspect. All this majesty, beauty, wonder is so easily abandoned for temporary and or material indulgence.

Steely Dan – Lunch With Gina Lyrics 1 year ago
I am SpittingLama and have the drug interpretation of the lyrics currently on top. I forgot to mention all those years ago the line "Lunch with Gina is forever" is extremely dark. Because I'll wager Becker probably came up with that line and was alluding to death. Although both had significant drug experience it was Walter that earned his post-grad degree in heroin. If you think I'm off base here please let me know.

BT – The Only Constant Is Change Lyrics 12 years ago
As a bt fanatic I think this song is meant to be about the human race. That said, I think of it in the context of lovers. It works that way as well.

Van Morrison – Tir Na Nog Lyrics 12 years ago
This song references the Legend of Tir na nOg - the land of eternal youth. The hero risks immortality in paradise for the sake of returning to Ireland/the world that he loves and longs for. ('How can we not be attached?') This is also about about soul mates meeting again after being reincarnated and, more importantly, actually recognizing each other. That in itself is the essence of "eternal youth" - the recognition of a greater reality. Imagine remembering your past lives and the perspective that would bring. You don't have to have an eastern/buddhist view to appreciate the love and longing and romance in this song which is, for me, one of Van's masterpieces. A song from the soundtrack of my life.

Steely Dan – Kid Charlemagne Lyrics 12 years ago
Not only is the song about acid chemist Owsley - it is pretty much historically accurate. He did run out of gas prior to being busted. Mandalex's answer should be on top, IMO.

Yes – The Revealing Science of God (Dance of the Dawn) Lyrics 12 years ago
TFTO 4 movements are based on a footnote in Paramhansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi according to the liner notes. I do not remember any more specifics then that. TRSoG is clearly about evolution from amoeba to spiritual beings.

Yes – Awaken Lyrics 12 years ago
Jon Anderson's lyrics are heavily dependent on the music. He uses words or phrases because of how they sound in conjunction with the music. That said, this is about the book "The Singer" as Jon has said. But also, for me, it is about timeless oneness with my wife and a willingness to forgive and be forgiven. That allows our love - or the love of any - to rise above mere mortality. 'Reaching out to touch my own being' and 'like the time I ran away..." are essential lyrics. 'Impenetrable youth' were me and her laying around in my room some 30 true summers ago. 30 years of loving past our human imperfection. When we renew our marriage vows Awaken will be essential music. This song means more to me than any other ever will.
