Kathryn Calder – Castor And Pollux Lyrics 14 years ago
Definitely "Show me Castor & Pollux, counting stars from the deck." Pretty funny that the original transcribed version messed up the one place in the song that the title appears. One other lyric correction: in the verse that begins "Always calm on the surface," it should read "Hanging on to THOUGHTS I've had too many times."

Castor & Pollux are the two brightest stars in the constellation Gemini (the Twins), and named for two heroes of Greek mythology who were also twins. (In Greek they are known as Castor & Polydeuces, but the Romans amended it to "Pollux.") Regardless of name they are always considered great warriors and often associated with horses and equestrians.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite songs on a great record. Kathryn's voice is great on the slow, pretty tunes but I love the way it contrasts with the louder guitars and drums on this track. And the central metaphor "Take a look at my heart my friend / the chambers are blown wide open" works so well to describe either heartbreak or opportunity.
