They married in 1999 and divorced in 2003, although they had been dating since the early 90s I believe. They have one child together. He also wrote "Sarah" and "Birthday Boy" about her, and possibly some others. This song was written during a time Gene was broken up with her, and dating someone else. It's kind of funny that he married the subject of this song a few years after it came out. |
