The part where he sings "I still see you inside of this god awful house, but you move awfully quiet now. And I still feel you everywhere." Is extremely relateable when you've lost someone really close to you. My sister passed away in December and this song will never be the same. "You told me this would always be worth living, what's really worth living anymore?" |

This isn't really an asesment of the songs meaning so much as just a tidbit from my experience of it. I don't often dream about songs. To date, I think I've only experienced a song in a dream once before. But after my sister died the first dream I can recall having of her is just a timelapse of memories some were real some were fake (perhaps they hadn't happened yet) and this song kept playing in my dream. I'm not sure what it means I'm guessing it's just because my sister showed me stars when I was 13 and she was 15. I don't think she ever showed me this song though. Coincidentally she passed away at 25 so about ten years after showing me this band. The song really did underscore my dream well. You will be missed Julia. <3 |

I think this song is about self medication through drugs and alcohol. At least that's the way it relates to me. We all live with some deep seeded pain but some of us can only see one way of dealing with it. By resorting to the bottle or something else. I used to drink rather heavily and I lost almost all my friends because of it. But I still had one person who refused to give up on me. She told me that she would be there for me while still encouraging me to stop. This song sounds like what she must have seen in me. |

I believe that the song is about depression. Like StickyNote said the water represents happiness. And in my oppinion the desert is the depression, once you drink that water you're screwed. When someone suffers from depression it can feel as if "you'll never get out" or like the feeling has "hunted you down". In the end he starts contemplating death: "It'll end up to be like the films that you've seen
Where they they bury the bones that will never be found" The part where he complains that "we're not even moving" that's a common syptom of depression, nothing gets done because all you can do is lay in bed. Finally with the "But I do" I think he's just subtling stating that he wants to be saved, he wants to get through it, he'd like somone's help. That's the way I see it |

I believe the final lines are:
Oh, to be with you all of the time
It's hopeless but I have to try anyway.
I suppose "I want" makes more sense but I just don't here the two distinct syllables, I've also seen versions where it says "want to be with you" without the "I" which fits more to the one syllable that I'm hearing but nonetheless I think it's "Oh". |

Wow, I love Conor's music simply for the reason that I can relate to it, I feel as if he's taken the thoughts right out of my head. I listened to this song a few times and liked the sound but now that I've read the lyrics I am truly amazed. I love the emotions it evokes and truths it beholds. Definitely one of my favorites now. |

This may come across as a little narrow minded but I think he may be referring to the two lights that stand in place of the twin towers. I was also very confused by the reference until I saw a picture of the two columns of light on a national geographic magazine, it seemed to fit. Big cities are sometimes referred to as "concrete jungles" so that's my best guess anyway. |
