i read in a few places (including an Elton John Biography) that this song is based on a situation in Elton's record company of old. I believe it was Rocket Records. In the office, they had a delivery boy. He was delivering stuff for the label on his bike and was hit and killed by a car. Elton made a song in his memory. I am not convinced that the lyrics listed here are correct, but maybe they are. |
