Beautiful song - I love the lyrics, "In your eyes, you know I've found my place..." *sigh* I think it's about a love that gets stronger every day and knowing that person will be by your side always. |

Such a beautiful song! Christmas time is such a bittersweet time - it is a time for joy, celebration, family and loved ones...but it is also a time when you think of those you're not sharing this special time with - people who have passed away; people who are far away; or someone you loved, hurt and have lost. I love how clever Joni was with her music, the piano beginning that has a hint of "Jingle Bells" in it, just to set the mood - I love it! |

A beautiful song which I believe is about the "war on terror" and the reasons why our defence forces are fighting in a battle that seems impossible to win. Would we be fighting so hard if there was no oil resources there? Also about religious extremists using their "faith" and "God/s" as a reason behind pointless acts of terrorism and murder. R.I.P. to all our men and women who have lost their lives during conflict. |

The first time I heard this song it gave me goosebumps - it's so beautiful! To me this song feels like it's written from a person who may be dying to the person they love. "One by one, we watched them fall..." - slowly watching other sufferers perhaps of a cancer all slipping into the 'great beyond'. And their partner has been at their side through all the hard times but the inevitable is approaching and he's telling them it is time for him to go to the 'great beyond' too. |

This song is so beautiful! One my favourite songs of all time. I loved it when I first heard it but it's only now that I truly understand the lyrics. I work overseas for 6 weeks at a time and I'm only home for 3 weeks. I have a beautiful loving man that waits for me patiently at home and sometimes it's so hard! I've often told him that if it is too hard I understand but he has never wavered. And it is just the simple things that I miss - "your touch, your kiss, your warm embrace"; so I truly do understand this song and it makes me tear up every time I hear it! My understanding of the song: someone that is forced to be away from home and the person that they love. And they are asking their partner to wait for them, to know that they miss them in every way and if they wait, they promise it will be worth it when they finally come home for good. That's exactly how I feel about my man too - thank Tracy Chapman for the amazing lyrics and songs which really do speak from the heart! |
