| @[SteveOatman:28693] Brilliant. You nailed it. | |
| A-Ha – Cold As Stone Lyrics | 7 years ago |
| Definitely about depression, and the music is as dark as the lyrics. | |
| Doves – The Cedar Room Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| @[JLoDaMofo:20220] No kidding, why is everything screwed up here? | |
| Ben Howard – Time Is Dancing Lyrics | 8 years ago |

I believe the word is "fight", not "face" This would also make it rhyme with "right'. To say it isn't right But somewhere deep in history Your father pulled your teeth out of your face |

| The Blue Nile – From a Late Night Train Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| @[DubJ:17567] If emotions could play music, it would sound like this. The listener becomes the song subject. | |

"To find where we belong Our shadows will remain Even after we are gone" Beautiful... |

| "Our inability to live in weakness truly makes us weak". | |
| Phil Ochs – No More Songs Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| @[Jerrybear:7151] He was also mugged and strangled in Kenya and suffered permanent damage to his vocal chords. He eventually was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I think this song was him giving up. | |
| The 1975 – Pressure Lyrics | 10 years ago |

"Because I'm living in a house with just three walls So I'm always getting recognized" Wow... |
|
| The Hollies – Bus Stop Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
"Bus stop, wet day, she’s there, I say, "Please share my umbrella." Bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love grows Under my umbrella." I thought "umbrella" might be a code name for underwear. |

| Harry Chapin – Taxi Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| I looked at the song as a message about missed opportunity and failure. An actress who "acts happy inside her handsome home"..she is actually sad and lonely. And the would-be pilot who only gets high when he's stoned. | |

| The Church – North, South, East and West Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| I think the song is about Los Angeles, where they recorded Starfish. Seems they had a cynical view of the city. | |

| Yes, it's the ceramic piggy bank. He does not want to smash it to get his savings. | |
| Crack the Sky – We Want Mine Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| @[Boygo:1641] It's actually directed at their label (at the time) Lifesong, who apparently withheld royalties owing to the band. | |
| Everything but the Girl – My Head Is My Only House Unless It Rains Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| The song title and the lyrics are meant to be funny and obscure, it's a Captain Beefheart song after all. Like I live only inside my head but if it rains I go inside a house. | |
| Bobby Goldsboro – Honey Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
A man gets a penis enlargement and it somehow causes his wife to become a manic depressive. Seriously, these lyrics are so utterly stupid and inane. A three year old could have done better. |

it touches feelings that you don't arouse knocks me back to that shuttered house take me back when they're all out take me back to that shuttered house Who cannot relate to that? Ricky Ross is a brilliant writer. You mind makes a movie or a vision when listening to his songs. |

| Ed Harcourt – Wind Through The Trees Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Yes, a very eerie haunting song. It just feels like the music is a calm, floating aftermath of a murder. I first heard this song about seven years ago. A young woman was murdered in a wooded area near where I live and her body found in a creek. There is a bicycle path that runs through that area (and there are still artificial flowers attached to the bridge railing overlooking that muddy creek). This song would remind me of the creepy feeling I got when I cycled through there. | |
| Crack the Sky – Long Nights Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Very sad. John Palumbo is a great writer. His songs always conjure up imagery. "If I were crazy I would take your life So you could go up there and join your wife" Total desperation in how to derive a solution to a horrible sad situation. |
