Basically what I think is that Bowie/narrator has a friend that is staying with him in a hotel,and he has a more than a crush on him. But he sees this man trying to hook up with a girl/prostitute/transvestite whatever. This sister Flo is rather spunky and supreme, but Bowie/narrator thinks she looks cheap and swishy in her style,and all the time he feels he can match up to her. Eventually though he can see that Sister Flo has pretty much brain washed his friend, so after much contemplation he packs his bags for him and phones a cab. While he is doing all this he is kicking himself that he didn't find the right words to say before it was to late, he believes he could have won him over.I love this song,its got really happy beat considering the lyrics=)Bowie fan forever!!<3<3<3 |

I think this song is about the alter ego Ziggy stardust, an amazing singer that lets fame go to his head and he becomes so self absorbed that his band turn against him. In the end he gets what was coming to him. I could be more detail but I'll go on forever if I do,lol=) wonderful song<3<3<3 |

I'll keep this short cause if I go into detail I'll go on forever;)I think this song is about a youth that doesn't want to age,when he sees the monster and refers to it as him self It could be an aged version of him.So after seeing what he'd be like in a few years he decides to live live life to the full as in sex,drugs,alcohol(smashed my soul and traded my mind)But the these things make his mind so hazy that in the line(got laid by a young bordello I was faintly half asleep)he doesn't realize the wrong of what he is doing. The bordello then reveals himself to be a demon,and sends the youth to hell, where the devil then commits sexual acts on him(his nebulous body swayed above his tongue swollen with devils love)and although the youth feels the pleasure of it(I said do it again do it again)his life has become evil and sinful.I didn't keep it short did I lol oh well=D One of my favorite songs=)<3<3<3 |

I love this song! I don't know exactly what it means but I'll say what I think it means.
I think that the song is about Bowie or just a made up character sitting in his hotel room,and he believes that his boyfriend is having an affair with a woman that he thinks looks kinda cheap (Shes so swishy in her satin and tat,in her frock coat an bipperty bopperty hat) and he thinks he can match up to this woman.In the second verse there is talk of this woman being very spunky and supreme,and shes luring this man away from the character in question,yet he still believes he can match up to her.In the end the character lays on his bed and contemplates the whole matter,then he make up his mind to leave his boyfriend and go away some where(so I throw both his bags down the hall and I'm phoning a cab),and the whole time he's thinking how he could have won him back.(It could have been me,what didn't I say) Sorry its so long but thats how I see it=)Bowie forever!<3<3<3 |
