This song seems to be about a girl who's very much in love with a guy, but she is in denial about it, because he doesn't want to date her/anyone. Commitment scares him, so she hides her affection under the guise of wanting a strictly physical relationship. The girl has no expectations, because she would rather have SOMETHING with the guy, even if it's strictly physical, as opposed to nothing. She sings lyrics like, "I can be your one time baby," "I don't wanna care tonight," "You don't have to give me anything," which implies that she doesn't care for an emotional relationship. In reality, her true intentions of developing a serious relationship are revealed within other parts of the song... "It's me you should be seeing" "Asking everybody, is he mine, is he mine? Not quite yet, but I'm gonna get, get him" She seeks a physical relationship with the guy for two purposes: 1) She enjoys it, in and of itself. 2) She hopes that it will lead to a serious romantic relationship. |

I know it's straightforward, but some lyrics can be a bit hard to pinpoint the meaning with words so here's what I think.. "Feeling the past moving in letting a new day begin" This is about keeping on going towards the (hopefully) brighter future, even though a dark past is creeping up on you. You ignore the past and keep going forward. "Hold to the time that you know you don't have to move on to let go" Perhaps it means holding onto happy memories of a happier time. Perhaps a relationship full of nice memories. You don't have to move on from the happy memories in order to let go of the pain of the breakup (or w/e). "Add to the memory you keep remember when you fall asleep" Keep the happy memories, and make new memories as well to add to your "happy collection." "hold to the love that you know you don't have to give up to let go" Just because of one failed relationship, you don't have to give up on love completely in order to let go of that one bad experience. "Remember turning on the night and moving through the morning light" I'm not sure about this part. Maybe.. The night represents sadness, and the morning light represents happiness. Ignoring the sadness and moving on into being happy again. Similar to the first part of the song. "remember how it was with you remember how you pulled me through" The person is speaking to themselves reminding them of how someone pulled them through a bad experience. Maybe a friend or love interest helped them after they were heartbroken and reminded them that good guys/girls still exist. "I remember." This small phrase packs the meaning of every other verse into a small, powerful phrase. It's not just saying "I remember" as in "I remember when such and such happened.." It signifies the person remembering to stay hopeful, remember to let go and move into the light (happiness) and to not allow one crap situation ruin their outlook on all other things. |
