| Evanescence – Lithium Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Lythium is most commonly used to treat Bipolar disorder. Many people who have this disorder stop their medications because they like the manic high they get and they miss it. Judging by the lyrics I would say that she has some personal experience with the drug and disorder. | |
| As I Lay Dying – I Never Wanted Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Exactly my thoughts pebbles. I don't know if its about drugs or not, but there are clearly things in his life which he feels bound to, but they don't satisfy him. The elements of a relationship in the song are likely the relationship he has with these things which he never wanted. The lines "I have seen my world change and then go back to where it came" are likely referring to trying to break free from these things, but constantly going back to them. | |

I think this song has more to do with the conflict within herself than anything else. She has spent so much time trying to look like the "perfect" person that others want her to be that she has lost her soul. "Oh the little pieces falling, shatter. Shards of me, To sharp to put back together. To small to matter, But big enough to cut me into so many little pieces." This is about the parts of her that she has hidden away, or what is lost on the other side of the mirror. They seem small and trivial, but they are a part of her and so ignoring them is cutting her to pieces. She is conflicted over her the person she truly is, and the person she tries to be in order to please everyone. I imagine that this song was very therapeutic for her to write. It doesn't mean it is a split personality so much as it is about an internal conflict that she is trying to sort out. |

| Evanescence – Tourniquet Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Yes this song was originally done by Soul Embraced. Despite all their denial of being a Christian band, I find it interesting that when looking for a drummer they selected Rocky Gray (a well known Christian Metal GUITARIST) to play drums. | |

There are a number of potential meanings in the song. It seems to line up best with a relationship with Christ which makes since because they do have Christian background, and yes acbjw Tourniquet was a cover of a song done by Soul Embraced, a Christian death metal band. Rocky Gray was the drummer in Evanescence for some time, but is well know in the Christian metal scene as the guitarist for both Soul Embraced and Living Sacrifice. Given the Christian history of the band it makes most sense that this song is about a relationship with Christ. There are other possibilities however, first being a relationship with another person, second being a relationship with herself. It could be in reference to her inner person, or the person she wants to be, with whom she is in conflict, and the struggle to forgive herself. |
