Really, no one has commented on this one? This is one of my favorite songs by The Doors! Makes me want to dance, like all of their stuff. On to the meaning... sex. At least that's how I interpret it. To me it's about significant others making love. |

Wow, everyone has really great interpretations of this song. I really can't see the connection to pregnancy but I seriously applaud those who interpret the song that way! That is some serious deep thinking! I looked up "Fear of Flying" and when I read the small summary it reminded me of the novel "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin. It's about Edna, a woman living in the 1890's, bored in her marriage and discovering her sexual awakening. I doubt "The Awakening" has anything to do with it but that's what it reminded me of. Spoiler but Edna ends up killing herself at the end of the novel (good-bye Erica) and one of the last things her lover says to her is "Good-by-- because I love you." I'm not exactly sure what this song is about but it's beautiful. |

| I like your interpretation WhiteDoveBlackCrow. I think everyone connects to a song in their own way and that's how they interpret it. So, the way I see this song as someone who feels as if they are being held down because of where they are at either in their life or the place where they live. They just want to get out and make something of their life. Or, maybe even there's too many bad memories where they are living and they need to get away. I connect to this song in the sense I want to move to another city and start a new life. | |
