Wrong lyrics, but w/e. I digress even deeper now, the song is about having a guilty feeling about someone falling in love with you, but you don't feel the same. Throwing off the guilt for the enjoyment of watching someone suffer for you. It's beautiful, everyone does it. Cool song. It reminds me of that time in band camp... |

****Spoiler**** Hallelujah = Praise ya'. Leonard Cohen uses it in this song instead of the norm, "I love you". He lost the love of his life, he compares his love for her with the love zealots have for god. Heck, if you can't figure out that verse2 is just a wild shag in the kitchen, that drew forth the "I love you" from Leonard, then you are reading into things. Leonards song is a strong lyrical love song. The song is full of resentment and deep apprectiation for their shared time together. So much that when he leaves this world, his deepest regret in life will be losing her. It's the sex theme in Watchmen, even. Now if you read all that, you get a surprise spoiler. Hallelujah means whatever the listener wants, the Holy or the Broken means it's meaning is open to opinion and universal. Be fruitful, zealots! |
