o while I don't think this song is ABOUT vampires, I think she is using Vampires as a metaphor. To me, the song is about a girl who is falling in love with this guy but he's a bad influence and makes her feel worthless. She compares it to a human falling in love with a vampire because outside of the twilight saga, vampires are evil and also bad influences. |

Ok, So while I don't think this song is ABOUT vampires... I think she is using Vampires as an analogy/comparison in the song. Remember... outside of the twilight saga, vampires are infamously known as evil, scary creatures. I think it's about a girl who is in love with a guy who is a terrible influence on her. Because she doesn't feel like she's good enough for him, she would do anything to be with him. She is stating that he makes her want to "have a wicked mind" although she never used to be like that. "Take me, I'm alive I never was a girl with a wicked mind But everything looks better when the sun goes down" She compares this to how a human feels who is in love with a vampire. When she looks at him and thinks about how much she loves him, his influence "makes her wanna die" because you have to die if you want to date a vampire (if you will). "Your eyes, your eyes..." (etc). "You make me wanna die.." (etc.) Again, a human telling a vampire to: "Taste me, drink my soul Show me all the things that I shouldn't know When there's a new moon on the rise" Is comparable to her asking this man she loves to teach her the bad things so she can be with him. She loves him so much, she would do anything to be with him. She never feels good enough for him and is willing to do anything to be with him: "I would die for you, my love, my love And I would steal for you, my love, my love" (etc). |

She wants to stop hurting. It is very hard for her because this guy isn't letting her move on. He is keeping contact with her and making her miss him even more. When laying with you I could stay there Close my eyes, feel you here forever You and me together, nothing is better Whenever she is with him and it's good, it's really good. She wants that feeling to stay forever. My take on the whole thing is that he broke up with her but calls her and texts her and basically uses her and she wrote this song when she was ready to say "leave me the EFF alone!" I set fire to the rain And I threw us into the flames When we fell, something died 'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time Again, she is saying that she is done hurting. She wants the relationship and the contact to "burn" It was hard though because she knew it was over and over means over... she will never go back. Sometimes I wake up by the door That heart you caught must be waiting for you Even now when we're already over I can't help myself from looking for you She still thinks that maybe everything will go back to the way it was before the breakup. "The heart you caught" refers back to the beginning of the song when she talks about how she let herself go and fell in love with him. That part of her still misses him and wishes for it to be that way again. |
