| Guster – Stay With Me Jesus Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This song is clearly a satire. The narrator is an imbecile--he doesn't understand that he is bringing death everywhere he goes, and everyone is afraid of him. The line "Everywhere I go they run in fear" clearly shows this. This is not a Christian song. It is making fun of a guy who carries death around with him and then thanks Jesus for saving him (and not the others). | |
| Jane's Addiction – Irresistible Force (Met the Immovable Object) Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I think this song uses the Big Bang metaphor to describe the band's unexpected popularity and fame. When they say "We didn't know that it would blow up / With such might" it might mean that the band had no idea that they would eventually become a "big business." They were playing for the love of it and suddenly everyone was showing up to the "late, late, late show / [to] watch us play." The banging might refer to the music that the band makes--banging on their instruments. And when he says "Some may call me a lucky shot / No, but it was not" I think he is offended that people consider the band's success to be purely luck, since that diminishes the talent of the musicians. |

Some of the lyrics posted are incorrect. This is from the band's website: The beast and dragon, adored You been gone so long Where you been for so long I went to places unknown Rented a room And I forgot my pen Shook my twin And I had to find the feelin again Now all I need is a crew One that can act as if One that can slay on cue And sneeze and sniff Uh-huh alright I'm going back to the water Been landlocked too long I got a feelin it don't come cheap I got a feelin oh and then it got to me It took its time a-working into my soul I got to believe it come from rock and roll Believe it come from rock and roll Where did you get for so long I been learning my scene I been watching my friends move away I summon my love back to me And I went down by the seawall That's when I knew, knew They Never Got You Great dominions they don't come cheap Great dominions they just want you to leave I got the meaning the meaning sat tight Said it's not what you expected but it could be right I got a feelin it didn't come free I got a feelin and then it got to me When you don't feel it it shows they tear out your soul And when you believe they call it rock and roll And when you believe they call it rock and roll |
