| I think you've got it exactly right, AlfB. That's always been my interpretation of this song too: The Neon Bible is television. Also, scolopacid, the idea is that the media is sensationalizing everything that is negative in society. You're right that things have certainly improved for many socities (not all...certainly not all) in many regards, but the way that society is portaryed in the media is incredibly skewed toward the negative...Not much chance for survival if the Neon Bible is right. I think that's kind of the point of the song, which is NOT stupid. | |
