| Chris Rea – The Road To Hell (part 1) Lyrics | 14 years ago |

This is really an honor for me, being the first one to write here about this song. I've read somewhere else that the record company had it split from the "Part 2" because they thought it was boring and would not sell. Well, it's not well known alright. But every time I listen to it, I can picture everything Chris sings perfectly clear. I always wanted to remake this scene on some rainy day, shooting photos of it. I think it's about a point in life when you just stop on your way, for no particular reason. You pull off of the road that's your life and right then, the only person in the world who knows you best and who you know best (and who you care the most for) asks you why you have taken that road. You will have to answer that question, and there will be no lying about it. And you will realize that you are prostituting yourself to the rich, hoping to become one of them. You will get a warning as an answer, not a reprimand or a verdict, just the facts, and it is up to you what you make of it, like all your life is. But then, have you ever tried to turn around on a motorway? Part 2 that's supposed to follow is like some music for the road from there, music for the road to hell. I want to believe that Chris tells us to keep going rather than to crash, but be well aware of what is going on. And hey, maybe there'll be a spot to change direction somewhere down the road, but until then, keep going, floor it. Have you ever seen the movie "Vanishing Point"? Keep going. Straight and true. |

@ sirnuke: actually Chris has two songs called "All summer long". The one you cited is from the "King of the Beach" album, while the one above is from the "Shamrock diaries" album. They are totally different, and both really worth listening to. And hey, the video to the one you mentioned is REALLY nice ;) |
