Nightwish – Wish I Had an Angel Lyrics 14 years ago
Personally the lyrics are what made me interested in Nightwish. I am sorry you are so close minded, but there are no written laws about what metal can and can't have. Hell, it is music, music is meant to have lyrics.

This song is beautiful. I enjoy how Abney park uses very poetic language in their lyrics, combined with a very...steampunk...sound.

Nightwish – Escapist Lyrics 14 years ago
As a writer who often uses the fantasy worlds I create to find solace from reality around me, these lyrics are near and dear to my heart.

The golden cage is the cushioned views of reality that bind the nightingale (I always think of Johanna from Sweeney Todd whenever I hear nightingale...just a little tidbit of my thinking) into a set world. The maze signifies that there is no easy way from it, and that the reality itself is confusing, frustrating, and at times hard to deal with.

With the tower, as a tarot reader, I relate that line to tarot readings.

The whole piece in itself is magnificent, and so very symbolic that many writers, poets, and artists I am almost positive can relate to it.

Well, these lyrics are beautiful, as all of Tuomas' lyrics are. Annette's voice paired with them for me creates a truly mystical feel to them.

As far as if they are about Tarja or not, they could be, or they may not be. A lot of poets choose topics the reader can relate to in order to create an emotional reaction to that piece.

Oh whoops! My computer scrolled down and I didn't catch it! I didn't mean to comment on your change per-say, more the overall piece...sorry!

Nightwish – Eva Lyrics 14 years ago
Annette's voice works with this beautifully. The fragility that she is able to portray within her voice is heartbreaking and paired with Tuomas' perfect words and heart pulling stories, it is a beautiful piece.

In all honesty, regarding Annette versus Tarja, to compare them is akin to comparing Mozart to System of a Down. Neither can be labelled as better than the other because of their differences, it all comes down to personal preference. As for me, as long as Tuomas keeps writing lyrics that pull at my emotions, I would nearly not care who was singing.
