| Panic! at the Disco – Northern Downpour Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I just want to throw my 2 cents in about the chorus "sugarcane in the easy morning, weather vane's my one and lonely" I picture an old couple, or maybe just an old man, alone, sipping coffee (with sugar from sugarcane in it) and reading a newspaper about the weather. Maybe he just wishes for easier days like drinking coffee and reading about the weather. Or maybe his mornings are too simple, and that he wishes that the weather wasn't his only source of company in the morning. People are getting really creative on this part but I feel it to be a little more straightforward than most other parts |

The previous two comments were absolutely pointless. Here's a third one pointing out how stupid the last two were. This is song meanings.net, not idiotsstatetheobvious.net. This song is about a guy changing after being lost, and hoping he'll be found again by his certain someone.. |

| The Contortionist – Primal Directive Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I don't want to analyze the entire song, that would be a lot of work. But I wanted to take a tackle at "primal directive" two words "primal", "directive" I'd just like to think it's our instinct. The very essence of our nature and what compels us to do what we can to survive. Eating, sleeping, drinking, recreating. "as we map out this universe, all that can be seen is an ocean of emptiness" another natural instinct of human beings is to explore. maybe he's talking "we" as in the aliens or maybe "we" as in the human species..but whoever is mapping out the universe, they're driven by their natural, or primal, directive, or instinct to explore and understand. THIS IS PRIMAL DIRECTIVE! |

| American Me – Black Malicious Lie Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| This song is easily the best on that album. Sick ass breakdown and intro and the lyrics are badass. Like the music video, I think the lyricist is basically in denial of a problem (drugs?). He has a problem that people can see, but he just doesn't want to admit. (who am I to judge if the judged was me) (running away from myself no time to look back) and at the end he's confronting himself. (you can lie to them but you can't fucking lie to yourself) dope shit no doubt. being a liar is an awful trait. | |
| The Used – It's Hard to Say Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| alright so everybody understands this song is about kate and overdosing blahblahblah, but what is he talking about when he says "it's hard to say that i was wrong"? there must have been an argument involved which might have lead her to overdose before he had a chance to admit he was wrong and apologize for not holding his tongue which gives this song just that much more depth. | |
| A Lot Like Birds – The Blowtorch Is Applied To The Sugar Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| A Lot Like Birds is just an amazingly talented band. They work together so perfectly, especially the vocalists. Kurt went above and beyond anything he could have done in Dance Gavin. Especially starting at "love's a splendored thing" where they're basically talking as if they were in the relationship. Obviously one has their doubts about the feelings they once had, "the fires gone and now its dark". But since he probably broke it off, he's still lonely and tries to drink it away "my thirst is now met in bars" but he knows the relationship he did have wasn't legitimate because his mate was probably just desperate and scared of being alone "And not the fake embrace of needy arms". It was real at first, but the passion just eventually died out, they're both lonely but at least he knows what they did have just isn't healthy. That's just what I got out of it because that's the exact same situation I'm in. Maybe I'm just connection the two. | |
| La Dispute – New Storms For Older Lovers Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I figured it's coming from the victim's point of view, speaking to indeed the wife's past lover. BUT! "And I hope you see us Your wife and your children and I" The other man had a family of his own with another woman. I think the victim doesn't have children, let alone the other man's children. I agree on the victim losing faith in his wife line by line, and I also agree with her being happy with her previous lover. This is hands down my favorite band of all time, and this is definitely my favorite song. Such power, such emotion. Indescribable. |
