| jes boots is absolutely right. the whole song is full of drug reference. but i think syrupy sun would actually be a peyote reference. the peyote cactus having a flower right when it is at it's prime, and the most common way of using it is to take the flower, the seeds, the fruit, or the syrupy liquid on the inside and turn it into a tea. which could also connect with the sun rising in the south, because the cactus grows around Arizona, and the south section of Cali. almond trees could reference alcohol dependence. and the id and ego part i think is actually referring to conor and fighting between drugs sex and love, and that the twins are his personality and that he is in love throughout the whole song but lost the girl and wants her back. | |

actually all u little bitches that just dont want to admit that their favorite artists use drugs, it is a drug song. but he is saying that he is ashamed of it, kissing the girl causes him pain because he can't stop it even for her. the video just confirms it, the guys are the side effects, and people that a life of pill popping can bring in. OK considering Ive tried mot drugs out there id like to shed some light on this one. OutofYourHighchair was right by saying its about self destructive behavior. to be exact its about how no one is truly happy with out some self destructive habit (in this case drug use/abuse) and how most people don't even want to be happy even if u wont admit it everyone wants an end. hes not saying that drug companies want us dead, they would make no money that way. hes saying subconsciously all people who use drugs just want an end(death). Just to clear up any confusion here are all the drug references. 1)it seems to focus on a pill as a means of escaping ones own previous actions, and therefore regrets but LSD has almost no taste and there for needs no chaser(drink taken right after a pill to make it go down smoother) and was used by the CIA for sleeper trials the users having little or no memory of their actions. 2)coma most likely referring to heroine use to sleep the depression away. 3)dulling the razor referring to cocaine or snorting pills just as said by TrendyHate. 4)Knife and hand are your own referring to the cutting of ones wrists or other extremities. 5)terrible thing to waste drugs kill brain cells. and then the line: Ignorance is bliss until they take your bliss away just means ur happy with the worst things in life until u know it could be better, or the opposite there might be chance for the degree of how bad life is to be less bad |
