It is written from the perspective of a devout person, disappointed in a young person who is thinking freely, the lines after "you say..." cut in as if the young person is sick of this blind response they have heard a million times, the devout person has nothing new to say, hence the second verse just being the first line repeated, then a long pause, the first part of the chorus is the devout and the second part is the free-thinker, if you really look into the other lyrics it all makes sense, Yoni would never write in opposition to individuality and free thinking, as jarvis suggested, it is just in that point of view to make the song work |
