i mean...this band is amazing. nuff said. can do no wrong in my eyes. this song is a turning point for these guys, and Brian in particular. these past albums, most if not all his songs have been about a girl (Maria or Virginia or what have you). but now he's telling himself to let her go. to turn the record over. to turn the key and engine over and leave and let somebody else lay at her feet. "Have you seen my hands? Just look at 'em shake And the song just keeps on repeating Drop the needle again And I danced with your ghost Oh, but that ain't the way I can't move on and I can't stay the same" frustration. longing to get over her and get on with life. it's a powerful, powerful song, simple in its delivery and as i said, really important in terms of Brian's songwriting. |

same way he plays with the lyrics on "Burn a Miracle" (burn america!) he plays with them on here ("if you're the sun i'm a black hole/son OF A black hole) that being said...damn. one of their best songs...ever. the "basking in the blood of a dying star" verse is too kickass, and Max screaming the aforementioned line, along with "there's just something in the way you burn..." is amazing. again, wish i knew who/what this was really about but as it is, the best on the album and one of the best ever by Max. |

one of the more powerful songs on Anarchy. last chorus gives me chills. if it's not about Sherri saving Max from his shitty bi-polar drug addicted lifestyle, i'm not sure what it's about. this song makes me so happy for where Max and Say Anything are headed. |

song is the best on the album and one of my personal favorite rchp songs of all time. in my opinion two songs off SA that are probably the most overlooked in terms of their brilliance and how they contribute to the peppers canon as a whole are Wet Sand, because that song is a whole nother beast, and this one. it's kiedis at his most heartfelt - and best, and frusciante does some things with a guitar in this song that will make your jaw drop. "come along and show me something that i never knew in your eyes", indeed |
