Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness Lyrics 13 years ago
I agree with your general interpretation and I have points I would like to add.

The girl illustrated from the lyrics is predicting the end of a relationship.

It's said that when you embrace death, in this case a death of a relationship, that's when you really let loose and live. I think that feeling is described with: "I got my red dress on tonight / Dancing in the dark in the pale moonlight / Got my hair up real big beauty queen style / High heels off, I'm feeling alive," "Nothing scares me anymore," and further with "Oh if I go, I'll die happy tonight."

They weren't compatible. "Got my bad baby by my heavenly side."
"Bad" and "heavenly" are opposites and opposites are supposed to attract to one another. Still, though. "Bad" and "heavenly" are not total opposites. It's supposed to be good is to bad, as heavenly is to devilish. So, even though parts of them matched, they were fundamentally wrong for each other. Additionally, going 99 miles per hour on the highway would be reckless and suicidal. This instance of speeding could also mean that they're going to crash/break up. She still liked him regardless. As shown as the girl saying, "I just wanted you to know that baby, you're the best."

That feeling of embracing death has faded. She no longer feels invincible and she's coming to terms that it's over. "I think I'll miss you forever/Like the stars miss the sun in the morning skies/Late is better than never." She's both accepting and refusing the idea that her ex-partner was not the one she's destined for. "Even if you're gone, I'm gonna drive, drive, drive." She's going to continue to revel in her thoughts about the person she was romantically involved with.

"Summertime sadness" denotes that maybe they met over the summer, or their relationship ended during the summer. It's recurring nonetheless.

Metric – Gimme Sympathy Lyrics 13 years ago
This seems to be about a love relationship. Their relationship could last for a short period of time, but have so much bursting at the seams (The Beatles reference). Or their relationship could span decades, and not have the same manic feel (The Rolling Stones).

At the beginning of the song, it's all about letting down walls, and being raw with your emotions towards the person you're interested in.

"Get hot
Get too close to the flame
Wild open space
Talk like an open book
Sign me up"

It's like you're so infatuated with each other, you don't let logic run through your head. You're so high on "love" and lesser forms of it. You've had no experience and someone's never made you feel this way before. You're so vulnerable and naive. You both are. But at the time, it just feels so exhilarating and you don't stop to retrace your tracks. And due to poor execution and reckless regards for the facts, it ends.

As the song title explains though, this is forgivable. Not something to obsess over for the next lifetime. We're human and young and inexperienced. We're living.

fun. – Some Nights Lyrics 13 years ago
Society is ugly, and not all what the writer imagined it to be. It's a dog-eat-dog world. "Why don't we just break the rules already?" In this competitive world, the writer wants emotional connections, something beyond the "war."

"When I look into my nephew's eyes...
Man, you wouldn't believe the most amazing things that can come from...
Some terrible lies...ahhh..."

Disillusioned, disenchanted, ya'know.

Tegan and Sara – The Con Lyrics 13 years ago
Well, the title of this song is "The Con" and I believe that we should not take this song verbatim for what it says. Or it has to interpreted in the way that the narrator is try to con us into thinking that they're fine.

Calm down, I'm calling you to say
I'm capsized, erring on the edge of safe.
Calm down, I'm calling back to say
I'm home now and coming around, I'm coming around
Nobody likes to but I really like to cry
Nobody likes me, maybe if I cry.

If someone has moved on, I don't think they would have to say it to the person whom they were in an intimate relationship with. The person is just a wreck. "Nobody" likes to cry, but here they are, crying.

The Maine – Whoever She Is Lyrics 14 years ago
I feel that this song is about finding the person you're meant to spend the rest of your life with. The person doesn't have to be a successful person. For instance, "I thought I had it all" means an ideal partner that can support both partners. That's why the singer "gave it away" because he wasn't satisfied with what society told him he needed. Instead, he waits for destiny to bond him to his future lover, whom he doesn't have expectations for. He doesn't mind if the girl is a "rainy day" or "minimum wage." He realizes that he would be truly happy despite those "faults," because love is sure as hell not material. In the meantime before his love appears, he just plays it smooth with his friends and gets on with his life, doing what he loves.

Love will come your way as long as you keep your mind open to all types of lovers. So, you don't have to mope over your love life because it will happen. Just live your life and enjoy what you do!
