| This is a really good summary about the meaning of this song's lyrics. I now understand it much better than I originally did now that you explained your view of it (which I agree too). | |

| I was listening to this song before going to bed and I figured something out with one line of the lyrics. Some people are saying its "We are God of stories" and others are saying (like on here) "We out of stories", but the words really are.... "We all got our stories" hence the next lines of "So please tell me what is there to complain about?". I mean, everyone has their own stories regarding their lives, everyone has bullshit to deal with and everything like that, so what is there to really be complaining about? So, I think that line of the lyrics should be changed to "We all got our stories" instead of "We out of stories". Doesn't that sound about right plus make more sense? | |

I agree with you. This is what I was thought it meant when I first heard it and thought more over the lyrics. Especially the very first part of the lyrics made me instantly think of The Great Depression. When I hear the lines "When busy streets a mess with people Would stop to hold their heads heavy" I was thinking of the time people were really feeling the effects of when The Great Depression kicked in. Although most of the lyrics later don't quite relate to similarly with The Great Depression, but I just thought this song could somehow do well toward reflecting a bit on The Great Depression. I'm sure when money was tight to come around, the accounts for robbery and whatnot were really high and of course many bad things happened. Also, the lines of "Trains and sewing machines" hinted to me the big things that happened in the later and almost mid 1900s with manufacturing. |
