It is a father calming his child down after a nightmare (about someone dying). He is explaining lucid dreaming to the child (taking control of ones dreams). He's trying to explain to his child that he can control "that place" and learn to overcome his fears (etc.) it's about mastering his dreams... very awesome song... good advice to, lucid dreaming is one of my favorite things in life... it's just really fun to control your dreams and become the "master of illusion". |

The *I* is the father of a child, the father is calming the child down after a nightmare, and explaining the benefits of lucid dreaming to the child. Read the second verse, he is telling the child there is a place he goes (lucid dreams) and the child should "relax" cause he was there as well, only not realizing it... the child will learn to control his dreams (eventually) and "face the fears, retrace the years and ride the whims of [his] mind".
